Vision:
EWSETA is committed to “Creating a sustainable tomorrow, today through skills.” This vision emphasizes the importance of building a skilled workforce capable of supporting the future sustainability of South Africa’s energy and water sectors.

Mission:
EWSETA aims to achieve its vision through the following strategic actions.

Research:
Conducting research to accurately determine the skills demand within the energy and water sectors.
Skills Development: Facilitating and coordinating skills development programs that effectively respond to the specific challenges and opportunities within these sectors.

Quality Assurance:
Ensuring excellence by driving quality assurance across all training and skills development initiatives.
Inclusive Economic Development: Fostering an ecosystem within the energy and water sectors that supports inclusive economic development, ensuring that the benefits of growth and development are broadly shared across society.

Through these efforts, EWSETA plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of South Africa’s energy and water industries, contributing to their sustainability, efficiency, and inclusivity.

Academic Wits Business School African Energy Leadership Centre (AELC)
Wits

AWEaP entered an MOU with Wits Business School African Energy Leadership Centre (AELC). The centre delivered the academic element of the programme. Conceptualised by industry visionaries who recognised the urgent need to address skill shortages in a rapidly evolving sector, the Centre aimed to respond effectively. Africa’s immense yet untapped energy potential and some of the world’s fastest economic growth rates faced limitations due to inadequate energy supply. This resulted in frequent brownouts and blackouts, hampering productivity even in the most developed economies. The AELC collaborated with AWEaP to deliver and enhance the academic programme, aligning with South Africa and Africa’s Just Energy Transition Skills Development needs.
